The accident, which is under investigation, was not caused by the heavy rains, said Sheriff's Lt. Paul Sylvia.
"The driver stopped the bus . . . she might have been experiencing some mechanical difficulties," Sylvia said. "The bus rolled down a hill and went into a small ravine. At this time, we don't know what caused the bus to roll. It was either human error, a mechanical failure or maybe a combination of the two."
The students were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the Lomita sheriff's station, where they were picked up by their parents.
